Legalweek 2022 felt a lot like any other Legalweek…and it was simply wonderful.

The last Legalweek Casepoint attended in person was in February 2020 – one month before the world shut its doors due to the pandemic. All the virtual conferences since then have been, I’m sorry to say…unsatisfying. Don’t get me wrong, organizations  have tried to make their respective conferences work virtually or in a hybrid fashion. But we have all learned that there is something quite different about an in-person conference, without masks, where colleagues can come together and share ideas, learn about new product innovation, kibbutz, take in some great New York dining, gossip (a bit), and learn from one another.

And that’s exactly what happened at this year’s Legalweek. Attendees roamed the vendor hall and chatted with providers. Speakers covered a wide range of topics from eDiscovery, process automation, data privacy, and cyber security. Cocktail parties came back to life – we held ours on the rooftop of the Refinery Hotel with the Empire State Building as our backdrop. The industry mingled once again. And, of course, there were important announcements from all corners of the community.

Casepoint had its share of announcements and participation, as well. We announced and showcased our rich set of connectors into cloud platforms like Slack, Microsoft 365, Box enterprise, and more. We also demonstrated our full featured legal hold capabilities right at our booth with lots of interest from individuals who work in corporate legal operations. The fact that all of these features seamlessly and directly integrate with our legal discovery platform really demonstrated the power of Casepoint’s technology.

Casepoint also moderated a panel discussion on “Solving Compliance & Regulatory Issues with AI Detection & Tracking Tools” with James Sherer, Partner at Baker Hostetler and Sarah Venable, Director of Data Science and Risk Analytics, Global Legal and Compliance at GlaxoSmithKline. The session was well attended and the audience really jumped in with questions and opinions of their own.

So I suppose the biggest thing that happened at Legalweek this year was that it was like any other previous Legalweek – and it was fantastic. The community came together and exchanged information just as it always had. The seal has been broken and I sincerely hope that the community will continue to come together, in person, again from this point forward.

It feels great to be back. If you were unable to connect with us at the event, reach us here! We’d be happy to send you a pair of Casepoint socks or a notebook in exchange for a meeting or a demo.
